On My Way to Oz…

And this, was where it all began.

As the door shuts behind me I begin to walk forward
ecause that seems like the only option.

I really didn’t even know I had begun my search when I set out.  I knew that I had money in my pocket, clothes on my back and a sort of…ache in my heart.  But that was all I was certain of.  The direction of the path was clear, but not because of the bright yellow path, since I didn’t notice a thing under my feet, but simply because I was choosing to move forward.

Why forward?  Well, because walking backwards seemed like an unreasonable solution.   I mean, the only people I’d ever seen do that were people walking backwards on treadmills, no doubt trying to change up their workouts, but even watching that made me wonder if they did that in their life too.

Anyway, since I was coming from a life that was all about looking good and not feeling much, I decided that was out of the question.  I was going to put one foot in front of the other in hopes of getting somewhere I’d never been before. I would not be looking back over my shoulder. I would not revisit sites I’d already seen. I would move forward and follow the yellow brick road…one brick at a time.

And in the face of fear along the way, I would choose to be courageous.
